An annual event in the Waikerie Institute, this Flower Show has become a much loved community
experience in Waikerie’s calendar, since its inception in 1980.
It is a competition of cut flowers, roses, orchids, Australian native plants, pot plants and floral art,
judged professionally by those who are experts in their craft. Cash prizes are awarded to champion
entries considered best in their various sections. There is also a Junior Section for our younger
community members to enter, with again, encouraging cash prizes.
This year’s theme for the Flower Show is “Garden Party”, and there are specific categories in the
sections to show your creativeness, imagination and ingenuity with entries relating to this theme.
As part of the Flower Show this year we are encouraging our local businesses to decorate a corner of
their shop or a window with their interpretation of “Garden Party” to compliment the other floral
decorations in the main streets. A generous $150 voucher and a significant trophy will be awarded
to the business considered the best.
So if you love flowers, pottering in the garden or just enjoying the ambience and peacefulness, visit
the Waikerie Flower Show on Friday 16th and Saturday 17th October to savour the perfume and
floral delights on display.
The Waikerie Flower Show is extremely well supported by our local business community with
significant sponsorship of which we are exceedingly grateful. The Loxton Waikerie Council continues
to support this event with a generous grant and use of the Waikerie Institute. Of course this Flower
Show would not exist if it wasn’t for the dedicated committee, other willing volunteers and the
fabulous and amazing gardeners in the community who front up year after year with their incredible
entries into our competition.
General Details
The Waikerie Flower Show is being held on Friday 16th October 10am to 5pm and Saturday 17th October 10am to 2pm
at the Waikerie Institute opposite the Waikerie Hotel in McCoy Street.
Entry is $5 for adults and $4 for concession while Children can attend for Free.
Morning and Afternoon Teas will be available and there is a special Floral Art Demonstration on Friday 16th October at 2pm.
