The Waikerie Business Alliance was formed in 2025 after the business community called for a new group of representative businesses that focused on Waikerie only. The group identified the key priority areas that needed attention including the state of the town mainstreet McCoy Street that had fallen behind in presentation. The group developed a Five-Year Strategy Plan after a business community meeting was held at the Waikerie Hotel. The group also initiated marketing plans that included television, radio and press before Christmas and considered the positive benefits of inviting mainstreet and town centre experts to Waikerie to showcase best practices.
The Waikerie Business Alliance has achieved many positive outcomes in a short period. Developing a One-Page Business Plan and a Five-Year Strategy to guide the group forward until 2030 formalised the priorities and focus areas for the group in key areas such as marketing, business mix and streetscape improvements. A new website was created and Facebook followers began to grow as the level of activity increased. A six-week television and radio campaign prior to Christmas lifted the profile of Waikerie and property owners in the mainstreet started painting their buildings.
